Finding a Job in Australia or
New Zealand
There
are four options:

Find
a job advertised in the medical press and apply
directly

Apply
through a Recruitment Agency

Get
a recommendation through a friend who has been
previously to Australasia and apply there.

combination of the above
It
mostly depends on where are you (location) and what seniority
position you are looking for. For consultant level posts,
relatively few of these are advertised in the mainstream press so
you are almost obliged to at least register with an agency to get
listings of vacancies. For junior doctors, you can apply to many
hospitals directly and you will be given the options available
from which you can usually choose your preferred specialty. Be
aware that first preference will usually be given to local
graduates and so the central teaching hospital jobs and the jobs
in very popular specialties such as Anaesthetics and radiology
will be very competitive.
Recommendations
through friends is a good option as well as they have first hand
experience of that specific job and so can usually tell you what
it was like in a lot of detail.
