Temporary
Visa

Business Employment Visa (Subclass 457)
This visa is for employees who
want to come temporarily to Australia and work. The Subclass 457
visa can be granted either on shore in Australia, or overseas,
regardless of where it is applied for.
To apply for a temporary visa to
allow work in Australia for 3 months to 4 years, you must have an
Australian sponsoring employer (usually the hospital or practice
you will be working for.)

Medical Practitioner Temporary Visa (Subclass 422)
Medical Practitioner visas are a
temporary visa to allow Australian employers to sponsor doctors to
work in Australia
3.
Occupational Trainee (Subclass 442)
For SHOs and Registrars to
undergo further training in their specialty of choice – rarely
used now.
Permanent
Residency
Overseas doctors can apply for
permanent residency in Australia by one of two main pathways:
Independent Skilled Migration
Visa - a points based assessment with a view to permanent
residency in Australia.
Spouse or De-Facto Spouse
Migrant (Subclass 309/100 - 820/801) - based on marriage or
relationship with an Australian citizen.
